Who Said an Infant Can't Smile?

November 6th, 2009 by Overallgirl

Whoever said infants can’t smile hasn’t seen Ben blowing raspberries on Nolan and pretending to nibble off his ear this morning. Nolan has made other facial expressions that I could easily take for a smile but I’ve been more inclined to say it’s just gas as most would agree. However, there was no mistaking him smiling this morning. Nolan is 16 days old today.

When All Feels Right in the World…Or At Least in the Lam Home

I had the opportunity to get out by myself for a few hours to be with other grown ups. It’s funny how as happy as one can be to get a little baby break, that very break makes one so pleased to come home and see one’s little son again. Some days I’ll be honest and say I do feel a little frazzled- I’m not used to feeling like I get so little done each day and crying isn’t my music of choice- but then I have experiences like last night. I came home from my outing and settled on the couch to feed my son. When he finished he was all but asleep and I gently moved him a little more upright to burp him a bit before laying back on a pillow with Nolan snuggled against my chest. He was warm and cuddly and ALIVE. He smelled like baby. It felt very right.

What's Cookin' Daddy?

Well, this morning Nolan had a verrrry poopy diaper…so Ben, resourceful Daddy that he is, whipped out our soup pot for a quick bath. Nolan seemed perfectly content floating in it while daddy carefully kept his head above water. Then a quick move to his baby bath towel which makes him look like a little Moses- all he needs is a beard and sheperd’s staff!
