Well, Nolan has expressed very little interest in crawling after his first few attempts at crawling a month ago- he did the classic baby swimmer thing where he furiously moved his legs and feet with his tummy on the ground.  Realizing it wasn’t getting him anywhere he got frustrated pretty quick and didn’t seem to want to really try doing that anymore because he could stand perfectly well and that seemed a lot more fulfilling.  We tried crawling around him, propping him up on his hands and knees so he was kind of in position, and putting toys out in front of him a little ways away from where he would be sitting.  All to no avail.  I was starting to think he would skip it and go straight to walking.  But it will still be awhile before he can do that without help and in the meantime, day by day as his arms and upperbody have gotten stronger he has gotten more mobile on the floor.  And now my friends, he can officially crawl somewhere if he really wants to- he still complains a good amount while he’s crawling and he’s just doing it a little bit, but he definitely knows how.  It looks like he’s crawling commando style for now.   He was holding out on us!

We recently attended a party in celebration of Nolan’s Great Grandparents 60th anniversary.  Yes 60.  Sixty.  Six and a Zero.  6…0…put em together.  Not only is that astounding in itself, but these two people are still full of life!  They still Greek dance, travel and do all manner of things that you just wouldn’t think someone who’s been married for 60 years would have the health to do.  And no, they didn’t get married when they were 5.  I’m embarassed to say I don’t have a picture of the two of them together from the party, but I have a lovely one of Nolan’s Big Yiayia and his Uncle Caleb.  Of course Nolan was the 3rd star of the show at the party as many relatives laid their eyes on him for the first time.  He might have even been the 1st star of the show, who knows?  Babies, especially when they are related somehow, really get people excited.

The two people in black in this video?  Yes- that’s the couple who have been married 60 years- Nolan’s Big Yiayia and Papouli (aka Great Grandparents)
