Stats on 9th month
July 28th, 2010 by Busy Mommy
Nolan is 9 months old now. He has 8 teeth. He eats whole nectarines, peaches and plums without any aid and even knows to spit out the seed (not that his throat is big enough to swallow a seed that big anyway). He currently breaks out in a rash when he has blueberries, peas, eggplant, dairy, plums (must have fed him too many), and several other foods that I can’t think of just now.
He has a new fascination with trying to splash his hands around in the toilet bowl…which of course we are squelching his fun right quick in that regard. Today while we were eating breakfast Nolan crawled off and around the corner away from us (which is uncommon for him- usually he wants to stay wherever we are). I followed him quietly as I watched him head into the bathroom on all fours and toward the toilet. Unfortunately for him the lid was down. After realizing his intended plan was not going to work, he hesitated briefly before heading back out towards us again. He loves splashing his hands around in the water- we are providing more sanitary means of doing so than the toilet. He can hit the drums with a drumstick pretty good and really loves it.
He is making an “ssss” sound through his teeth- especially in the morning- not sure why a specific time of day. He also says other sounds like ma-ma-ma-ma, na-na-na-na, da-da-da-da, and other gurgly baby words.
Lately he is only waking up once at night around 3 a.m., and then he is an early riser at 6:30 or 7a.m. At that point I bring him back to bed with us where he nurses and hopefully falls back to sleep- often that plan doesn’t work and he finishes nursing only to wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed ready to play- preferably with mommy or daddy who are still dead logs. Then one of us must drag ourselves out of bed with him.
He is a pretty quick crawler and has started edging his way with steps along the coffee table or couch. He loves to make fake cough and grunting sounds. He is ticklish and has the most adorable giggle when you tickle him. He has this thing where he sticks his arm and hand out in the air when he’s looking at someone or something that he’s excited about or interested in.
