Happy 31st Anniversary Mom and Dad!!

November 10th, 2010 by Busy Mommy

Once upon a time there was a cute little pixie like this….

And there was a short greek dude with a lot of hair on his head like this….

Yep, that’s my dad- wearing shorts….in the snow.  He has been to known to ski in a thin short sleeve cotton t-shirt on numerous occasions.  But I digress.

They fell in love (after some persuasion) and went galavanting around town.  Oh the dating times were sweet….

And those early months of marriage a blast too….Nice porsche guys!  Looks….small. But the days of tube tops and daisy shorts were numbered…

because everybody knows what happens when you get pregnant!

It was a shocker alright.  The porsche had to go by-bye.  But who needs a porsche when they can have me??  Being as willful as apparently I was (although who knows?  I wasn’t really there to know- I mean I was, but I wasn’t), things were a bit rough.
I look like a confused caterpillar.  Love the glasses mom!  Those are back in style you know- you still have ’em?  You could start wearing them again.

Okay- I suppose I can see it in the eyes- rather intense aren’t they?  I don’t look like I was always perfectly agreeable.

And of course you can’t have just one- it’s like potato chips.  Thankfully this potato chip was a lot more easy going than the first one as a baby.  Which made for a happy family of four, since the first potato chip had by this time calmed down.

Years went by….everybody grew up and it was time to celebrate their 25th annivesary.

Another five sped by, and as they hit the big 3-0 they can call themselves grandparents to a 1 year old who just started walking! (Wow he’s getting good fast by the way).

Happy 30th mom and dad!  I love you both and of course I now have a much better appreciation for how much you both sacrificed to raise Caleb and I.  Boy all kids are cute sweetie-pies but they aren’t easy as pie to take care of!!  I so appreciate now that I was fortunate enough to be raised in such a loving home with my mom always around.  I’m so glad that Nolan can have that now- everytime I make him laugh by tickling him while waiting in line at the grocery store on a tuesday at 1pm, or watching him toddle around the garden while I pound herbs in a mortar and pestle for dinner until he toddles back to me for a security hug.  Even though I don’t remember that far back, I know that’s what I got as a babe too and I love it.

Age-Old Highchair

November 8th, 2010 by Busy Mommy

I’ve been wanting to share the photos of Nolan I got in this high chair because it’s not just any high chair.  I have a photo of my Grandmother Suzy, my mom’s mom, in this same high chair as a baby girl. I have to verify this again as I’m having cases of mommy-brain, but I think the back of this photo said 1923.  That means almost 90 years ago Nolan’s Great-Grandma sat in it.  Grandma Suzy used it on her three children, and now I was fortunate to take some photos of Nolan in it- if only he would stay still for 2 seconds!

Daddy’s play time

November 8th, 2010 by Busy Mommy

Recently Ben was involved in a music gig in someone’s backyard- it turned out great! The nice thing was the sound was great, which as music groupies know- is always one of the #1 problems with a live show.

I love this one!  The tweaking of his lips to do the fast keyboard changes is priceless.  Luv u hunny!

Nolan of course wanted a hand at trying after it was all over.
