Nolan and Kelly

We were on our way to the park the other day and it occurred to me that we would be driving right by a friend’s house with a little girl that Nolan gets along with very well. She is 5 years old and is very motherly towards Nolan. Nolan just seems to play well with little girls a little older than him in general. We were able to bring Kelly and her brother Matt to the park, and I was very amused to see Nolan chasing after Kelly with much longer legs as she bounded across the park like a little gazelle, while Nolan scurried with his shorter legs to try to catch up saying “Kelly! Kelly! Kel-ly! Wait for me Kelly! Kelly!!” They raced around the park on their bikes quite a bit, and I was so glad that Nolan got so much more activity than he would on a regular day.  It’s hard to have nearly as much fun without some other kids to engage in activities with.nolan_kelly_web

I got some pretty cute pics and just for fun, you’ll see how I played around with them in Photoshop. We have these parks for our kids because we aren’t living the life that Jehovah meant for us yet.

Raising a child makes me look forward to this even more because it’s hard when you have a little person you love so much and you can’t give them what you think they should experience. These kids will only grow up once. They won’t ever get the chance to grow up the way it was intended.  A park certainly helps counteract all the “inside-ness” that kids experience, but of course I can’t help wishing that Nolan had the mountains from our trip to Mammoth Lakes that I photoshopped into the background of the pic below as his real playground.  I mean, it’s kind of sad that things have been reduced to playing on “boulders” made out of plastic.  Honestly though, Nolan is a very happy kid and I’m sure all this pains Ben and I a lot more than it does Nolan.

As a funny totally off-subject thing, I noticed that Nolan’s shoes were either just as big or bigger than Kelly’s- wow- I guess boys are just bigger but funny to see it so early on (Nolan’s 3 and Kelly is 5).kelly-nolan-rocks-webnolan_kelly_rocks_beforekelly_nolan_mountainsnolan_kelly_mountains_beforekelly_pretty_girl
