Crab-ation

November 27th, 2010 by Busy Mommy

We did something we’ve never done and probably would never have done if we didn’t have friends who recently acquired a small blow up boat with a motor and traps for crabbing.  The boys took off into part of the ocean at Half Moon Bay and I must say, it was the loveliest I’ve seen in HFM in a long time- probably ever.  It was clear and sunny, albeit quite cold, which is fine with me because I find that quite refreshing these days.

The set up and take off: Mmm…yummy raw chicken carcasses left out overnight so they stink for .49 cents a pound- apparently a tasty dish for crabs (what do they see in it?). These two are about to be married in 10 days…awwww….. Adios amigos!  Bring back some crabb-ies! What do girls/women pretending to be girls for a day do with several free hours of free time, no babies, and no husbands?  Shop and take pictures of course.  A casual maternity session was in order when we came across a snazzy restaurant wall with yellow adobe style stucco: And this bride to be mentioned something about her hair being all she has when I murmured how photogenic she was.  Yeah right.  She’s stinkin naturally beautiful! And then of course there’s little ol’ big me….you have to agree the coat is great though isn’t it? Our “shopping” consisted of hanging out at the local organic grocery store, where I didn’t buy these: But we did find a nice lady behind the deli counter to heat up the refrigerated burritos we found….mmm good!Since Nolan was with Grandma, I used my free hands to take some other photos And then….the guys were done and they caught something like 15 crabs- which I thought was pretty good- and then they told us some commercial fishermen came by and felt sorry for the 3 guys crowded in a little boat with only 15 crabs and gave them 5 more. Then we ate them.  The end. (They were way good.)

Anniversary Dinner

November 27th, 2010 by Busy Mommy

Well, I was too busy having fun and interacting with my son to get many photos, but these are a few.  My brother orchestrated a lovely evening of delightful food, fun clues, and a surprise at the end for my  mom and dad.

Being Silly with Paper Bag Hats

November 17th, 2010 by Busy Mommy

Once upon a time I too had a paper bag on my head- I don’t know who put it there but it was most likely my dad or my papou.  I guess it’s hard to resist making your kids look funny for a few minutes.  Especially after a tantrum- comedy relief is great medicine.  :)- It’s funny how even toddlers get humor- Nolan is laughing at this picture of me as I write this.
